    Job Seekers

    • The services provided by the Waterford Career Center are provided at no cost to the Employer or Job Seeker.

    • To facilitate your job search the Career Center provides computers, internet access, phones are provided for business calls, a copier and a fax machine.

    • Career Management Assistance is available. Our employment technicians will meet with you privately to discuss your career direction. Appointment for this service will be required.

    • Resume Assistance: Our service ensures that resumes are professionally written and customized to meet each individual's needs.

    • Training Funds: One-stop access to training funds are available to qualifying job seekers. Tuition assistance is available through a number of vocational schools, colleges and training institutions to assist you in upgrading or gaining new skills.

    • Job Readiness/Job Search Workshops are held as needed.

    • Testing and Assessment Services are available by appointment. The Career Scope, an interest and aptitude test, is provided without an appointment. The test takes 1 hour and 15 minutes and will not be given after 3:30 p.m.

    • Unemployment Registration: Assistance is available to complete the work test requirement by placing your resume on the Michigan Talent Bank.

    What are Michigan Works! Service Centers?

    Michigan Works! Service Centers offer one-stop access to a wide range of workforce and career development services to all Michigan residents. Individuals can easily access the state's major workforce development workforce development and career development programs and services such as job training, employment guidance and support services, job listings and information about education and opportunities such as internships and apprenticeships. Employers can list their job opening and find employees with no fess or charges. A call to 1-800-285-WORKS connects the caller to the nearest Michigan Works! location.

    What services are available?

    Job Seekers

    Core services are available to employers, job seekers, and students free of charge. Job seekers can access services which prepare them for job search, as well as actual job search activities. Such services include:
    • Job, career, and skill self-assessment tools.
    • Career, job, and labor market information.
    • Resume writing software and support materials.
    • Directories of human service agencies and employers.
    • Information on financial aid, occupational training, and workplace accommodations.
    • Access to the Michigan Talent Bank.
    Employers

    Employers are offered a single location to find services that support their employment needs. Included are:
    • Assistance in finding qualified workers.
    • Interview facilities at the service center.
    • Information on business start-up.
    • Information on labor markets, workplace accommodations, and tax credit opportunities.
    • Training incentives such as on-the-job training programs.
    • Access to the Michigan Talent Bank.
