Dear
Waterford Community Member,
The
Waterford School District is conducting a Facility Utilization
Study. This study will entail the analysis of current and
projected student enrollment, anticipated per pupil funding,
residence trends, demographics, school building utilization, and
school configurations. The outcome of this study may include the
recommendation to adjust school attendance boundaries, reconfigure
grade level assignments to schools, and/or repurpose District
facilities.
This study
will result in a more effective and efficient instructional
delivery system for the Waterford School District. It may also
result in recommendations that will offset anticipated budget
shortfalls and help the District look ahead to future adjustments
in the long term. The District may need to deploy further study in
the near future.
On July 30,
2009, a request for proposal was sent to ten consultants who were
recommended by other school districts who have recently
implemented a similar study. After reviewing the submitted
proposals, interviewing the candidates, and checking candidate
references, the administration recommended, and the Board of
Education approved, Michigan Leadership Institute (MLI) as
the consultant that will facilitate the scope of work for the
Facility Utilization Study.
The
Waterford School District believes that the engagement of the
Waterford community is of great importance in this process. As
such, we will be sending out two surveys, holding two open public
forums, and developing two stakeholder input teams comprised of
parents and community members equally representing all of the
attendance areas that make up the Waterford School District. In
addition, the Board of Education will receive updates at the
regularly scheduled Board of Education meetings, which are open to
the public.
Please take
the opportunity to provide your valued insight to assist in this
important study. I encourage you to visit this site often to receive the latest information
about the Facility Utilization Study.
Sincerely,
Robert R.
Neu
