The Kettering Bands cannot function without the support of the Boosters and we need EVERY parent to be involved in some way with the Boosters. Some parents will be able to be involved more than others, but each of you should consider how you can help to support your child's band experience at Kettering by getting involved!

BAND IS A FAMILY AFFAIR
Behind every successful high school band program stands a dedicated group of parents-the Band Boosters. Ideally, all parents should be involved with this group. Remember, the benefactors are your kids. This band really belongs to them, and your involvement will ensure their success. THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH here. Bands are subject to this law of reality. It takes a considerable amount of revenue to offer the students their well-deserved quality band experience. Our band program cannot exist with the support of YOU. While costs continue to rise, educational budgets are often frozen or reduced, and everyone is required to trim expenses to a bare minimum. Our financial salvation has been the Band Boosters; they provide the fuel to move us forward and make what we do a reality.

Although the generation of extra funds is an important function of the Boosters, it is not the organization's sole purpose, nor should it be seen as the reason for the group's existence. There is a much greater agenda at hand-the opportunity to create a partnership with your daughter/son and actively participate in an exciting mutual journey of success. . . making a dream come true. Band is a family affair.

"As a band parent, what can I do to help?" The simple answer is: there is so much to be done and not enough people to do it!! Whatever expertise you bring to the table can be put to work, and will be much appreciated. Here are but a few examples of the kinds of help we need:
Accounting Equipment Moving Retail
Advertising/P.R. Inventory Sales
Communications Legal Counsel Scheduling
Construction Management Secretarial
Counseling Mechanics Sewing
Designing Programming Writing
Driving
. . . etc., etc., etc.

Band parents provide the tools of every trade so our students can enjoy success as a band. Everyone has something to offer and has an ability that can be of service. The greatest ability, however, is AVAILABILITY. Simply being involved sends a powerful message to your students. There is no substitute for this priceless gift.

Please spread the good news about our Band and the importance of maintaining a solid music program in our school. Band is one of the most essential elements in guaranteeing the best OVERALL educational success of our youth.
