These are the days and times that I am usually available at the high school to take calls or visit with parents. Please note that on some occasions I may not be in the office or may be out of the building.

After School: MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY - 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM

My Voice Mail at the School: 248/673-4247 - I prefer getting Email messages much more than voice mail, though, as there is no indicator which tells us when we have a voicemail.

Randall Scott Adkins is in his tenth year as Director of Bands at Waterford Kettering High School in Waterford, Michigan. At Waterford Kettering, he teaches 2 jazz ensembles, three concert bands, the marching band, and History of Rock class. Formerly, he was a college wind band conductor at the University of Michigan-Flint, the University of Arkansas-Monticello, Whitworth College (WA) and Ohio Northern University. He began University-level teaching in 1985 at Alma College in Alma, MI, where he directed the Alma College Kiltie Marching Band, Jazz Band, and taught Low Brass and a course in Music Education. Born in Louisa, Kentucky, Mr. Adkins grew up in Davisburg, Michigan, and is a graduate of Holly Senior High School. He holds degrees from Central Michigan University (Bachelor of Music Education) and Michigan State University (Master of Music/Brass Specialist). In addition, he is A.B.D. in the Doctoral Conducting program at the University of Colorado, where he studied conducting with Allan McMurray. He has also studied conducting with Jack Williamson, Elizabeth A. H. Green, H. Robert Reynolds, Craig Kirchhoff, James Smith, and Eugene Corporon. As trombonist, Mr. Adkins has performed with several regional orchestras and bands. In 1987 he was chosen as Principal Trombonist with the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, which toured several countries in South America. In both classical and jazz idioms, Mr. Adkins has performed with professional and educational ensembles in Michigan, Ohio, New York's Lincoln Center, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Washington, Arkansas, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, London, Salisbury, and Royal Tunbridge Wells, England. He has performed professionally in several pick-up orchestras with various national artists such as Bob Hope, Maynard Ferguson, Phil Woods, Carol Channing, Buddy Rich, Carlos Montoya, Pat Boone, Dizzie Gillespie, Carl Fontana, Roger Williams, Natalie Cole, and Rich Mattison. Adkins has also performed as a sub trombonist for the Swing Seminar Big Band in Flint and occasionally as sub trombonist for the Midland Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and is currently the Vice President for Solo & Ensemble at the state level after having served three years as President of District 4.
