Kathryn Stone is in her first year as Director of Bands at Pierce Middle School and her fifth year as the Co-Director of theWaterford Kettering High School Marching Captains.  At Pierce, she teaches all of the bands during school, an after-school Percussion Ensemble and an after-school Jazz Band.  Prior to coming to Pierce, she taught band at Mason Middle School for four years. Ms. Stone received her Bachelors Degree from Central Michigan University and is also working on her Master's Degree from CMU as well.  While pursuing her Bachelors Degree she was a member of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Clarinet Choir, and the Marching Chippewas.  While in the Marching Chips, she served as a rank and section leader.  She has worked with several marching bands, including West Bloomfield HS, North Branch HS, and now Waterford Kettering.  She taught future drum majors at the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy at the Bands of America Summer Symposium for three summers.  The professional organizations she has belonged to include the Music Educators National Conference, and the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association.  In February of 2008, Ms. Stone was awarded the "Outstanding Potential Teacher Award" from the American School Band Directors Association.
