Activities

Color Guard (all year)
Mr. Philipp
A group of students who perform with the marching band using flags and rifles. Color Guard also competes in separate competitions.

Destination Imagination (all year)
Mrs. Kline (contact through Main Office)
A team of students who compete at the district, regional, and world levels on problem-solving strategies.

The Mott Drama Club - The MDC (all year)
Mr. Finn, Sponsor

The Mott Drama Club, better known as The MDC, produces three plays each school year. A fall play, a winter play and a spring musical. The MDC meets on the first Thursday of every month after school in the PAC. You are welcome to join the drama club at any point throughout the school year. See our website for more details.

H.O.T. - Hazards of Tobacco (all year)
Ms. Stanjones
High school students teach a six-week curriculum to sixth graders at middle schools on the hazards of tobacco use.

The International Thespian Society Troupe 4686 (all year)
A group of select students dedicated to the study of theatre. Membership is granted to those who meet the ITS membership requirements, which include (but are not limited to) 100 hours of work in the theatre, completion of two full length shows and proficiency in a minimum of two separate aspects of theatre.

Jazz Band (all year)
Mr. Philipp
A "big band" that performs all styles of jazz music. The band plays a number of concerts in school and also travels to jazz competitions throughout Michigan. (mostly juniors and seniors)

Jazz Lab Band (all year)
Mr. Philipp
A jazz band for players with some jazz experience. This band performs big band charts and plays a number of concerts throughout the year.

Junior Show (spring)
Each year talented and hard-working juniors try out for on and off stage parts in a variety show that helps raise money for their senior prom. This entertaining event runs two evenings and is open to the entire school and community.

Meet the Challenge (before spring sports)
Mr. Schmidt
Students participate in ten mornings of physical conditioning in preparation for spring sports.

National Honor Society (all year)
Mr. Lindemulder
(members selected by teachers from students who meet qualifications)
A group of students who are outstanding in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

National Art Honor Society (all year)

Students with outstanding artwork who use their talents in school activities to increase awareness in the arts. They also compete for NAHS scholarships.

P.P.I. - Positive Peer Influence (all year)
Mrs. Schoonover
Students who mediate conflicts between students without the help of administration's involvement during school.

Quiz Bowl 
Mr. Brakke
Quiz bowl is an academic competition. A team of Mott students takes on teams from other schools in a contest to see which group knows more.

S.A.D.D. - Students Against Destructive Decisions (all year)
Ms. Mathews
Founded as Students Against Driving Drunk in 1981, S.A.D.D. has grown to become the nation’s dominant peer-to-peer youth prevention organization with thousands of chapters in middle schools, high schools and colleges.

Senior Show (fall)
Seniors take center stage as they produce and perform in a variety show that not only highlights their talent and hard work, but also raises money for their prom. This outstanding and entertaining even plays to a school and community audience for two evenings.

Winter Indoor Ensemble (all year)
Mr. Philipp
A marching percussion/brass ensemble that competes at a state and national level. The group also combines color guard and pit. Anyone with dance experience is welcome to come and try out.
