In order to help our students to maintain their academic routines, we have developed some guidelines and opportunities for students. Here is what you can expect at each level.

While we encourage you to ensure your children participate with the opportunities provided by their teachers and the District, these opportunities are not mandatory and will not be counted toward a final grade. Additionally, please know that there will be no report card or grades assigned for the third marking period. Please know that teachers, counselors and social workers are accessible via email for questions and support during regular school hours throughout the course of the school closure.

Elementary: Teachers will provide communication regarding learning opportunities via the communication systems each school has in place. For some schools, this is Bloomz, for others Remind 101 or MiStar. Elementary teachers may choose to use Google classroom. We are grateful that many of our educational partners have afforded us free access accounts for students through June 30th. Teacher plans may reference use of some of these programs which can be found at the Elementary Extended Learning link

Middle School: Teachers will be using Google Classroom to provide learning opportunities to students. This can be accessed on any device, including a smartphone. Students can expect communication from individual teachers which may include recommendations from the links found at the Middle School Extended Learning link. Each middle school student also has access to Edgenuity, a supplementary online learning tool. Directions for access are on the link above.

High School: Teachers will be using Google Classroom to provide learning opportunities to students. This can be accessed on any device, including a smartphone. Students can expect communication from individual teachers which may include recommendations from the links found at the Grades 9-12 Family Access to Extended Learning Opportunities.

Finally, please know that we understand the dramatic impact this has on your daily routines. If we can support in any way, please reach out to your student’s teacher, building principal or the WSD administration building at 248.682.7800.

If you currently do not have internet access, many internet providers are offering free basic internet. Contact your local provider for more information.
