Kingfish win 2010 Robert F. Busbey Invitational, Cleveland OH
Congratulations to all Kingfish swimmers who traveled to
Cleveland, Ohio this past weekend for the 2010 Robert F. Busbey
Invitational Swim Meet held at Cleveland State University. Kingfish
Aquatics captured 1st place with a total of 391 points! Several team
members were awarded High Point recognition including: Sami
Stelpflug (13/14 girls); Madison Wright (13/14 girls runner-up);
Nick Arakelian (13/14 boys) and Maxwell Chen (10 & under boys).
Several meet records were set as well this weekend: Madison Wright
(13/14 girls 100 Fly); Nick Arakelian (13/14 boys 200 IM and 200
Free); Andrew Guan (11/12 boys 200 Fly) and Maxwell Chen (10 & under
boys 50 Breast). Congratulations to Coach Brad and all swimmers on a
terrific weekend!
Kingfish pulls a head at 12 and under state meet
March 13-15th Waterford pools held the 12 and under state meet (hosted by BBA). Vary quickly in the meet KIngfish Aquatic club of Waterford (KAW) moved up into the rankings. Justin May swam an impressive 500 freestyle while improving his times by 10 seconds. Megan Stelpflug placed first in the 200 Freestyle while obtaining her sections cut by swimming well under 2 minutes. Placing 1st is nothing new, Curtis Hsu managed in the 200 Fly. Over all Kingfish Aquatic Club of Waterford ended up 4th place in the state. This is nice to see from a team that is only 3 years old.
This weekend Kingfish is hoping place even higher in the 13 and over state meet being held in Jenisen, MI.
Kingfish hosts Michigan Junior Olympic East meet with great success on deck and in the water.
The past weekend Kingfish parent and coaches hosted the Junior Olympic east meet at Waterford schools. Officials, parents and swimmers all a like said that the meet was a well ran meet. It is nice to see this team come together and host such a great meet.
The swimmers on the other hand, made podium spots in several events. Almost every swimmer bettered at least one time. Jessica Porter improved a lot of her times. Several swimmers managed to get cuts to swim in next weekend’s 12 and under state meet, being held at Mott High Schools pool.
One of the closest races of the weekend was a relay between Kingfish Aquatic club of Waterford 13-18 year old boys and the Detroit Tiger Sharks. Detroit Tiger Sharks just out touched Kingfish by a 3 100th of a second. Kingfish was in the lead up tile the last yard of the race. Races like this will be remembered by both teams for a long time. "Both teams should be proud of the effort and heart brought to the race" said the head coach of the Tiger Sharks.
The results were posted on the teams site minutes after the conclusion of the meet. Congratulations to all swimmers, that participated at this meet.
Kingfish improves at district championship meet
First in a series of championship meets for Kingfish, the team showed up and Royal Oak Middle school for the District meet with about 1/3 of the team. Mostly the newer swimmers. Friday night, generally the distance events, proved to have some major time drops in the 1000 Free. Both Erica Kevnick and Shelby Nesbitt dropped 38 and 22.75 seconds respectively. Kingfish’s younger swimmers swimming the 500 free all dropped time some like Olivia Emert (8) dropped 32 seconds and Elizabeth Flatoff (9) came up 2 seconds short of her J.O. Throughout the weekend the team showed 74% of the swims with improved times. Even Grace Mansour (11), after being out for a week with a repertory infection was able to improve her 500 Free time by nearly 35 seconds on Sunday night. Swimmers like these show the skills and determination the team has about winning. Kingfish will be hosting the Junior Olympic Meet at Mott March 5th-7th. The proceeds from meets we host pay for the teams equipment and expenses for social activities. Come cheer them on to another great meet.
Kingfish wins United Swim League Championship Meet
Kingfish swimmers swam to victory at the USL by scoring 3065.50 points. The closest team, Hartland Hurricanes Swim Club scoring 1966 points. Huron Valley Penguins scored 1896.50 point, Brighton Eels with 840 and Red sharks with 517. Kingfish had several level 1 and .5 swimmers that swam their second meet. Kingfish is swimming meets on February 26-28 at Royal Oak middle school. Junior Olympic Meet at Mott High School March 5-7 and and state meets the following to weekend. Come cheer them on.
Kingfish is back in the water
Sunday the short course swim meet season started for Kingfish with an away meet at Hartland. Even though Kingfish did not win the meet, they debut 13 swimmers and 3 from the newly formed .5 group.
Olivia Emert (7) won her 8 and under 25 Freestyle event with a time of 19.23 seconds while showing a 15.66% improvement. Maria Kuhn (7) placed second in the 8 and under 25 Fly with a time of 18.25 seconds. In the 10 and Under 50 Fly, Elizabeth Flatloff placed first with a time of 48.71 followed closely by Emile Karagosian with a final time of 51.86. Jake Ross, Gabriella Garica and Drue Froeschke all had events with over a 20 percent improvements.
Kingfish’s next Untied Swim League meet is at Kettering on October 23 with a start time of 6:00 and USA Swimming meet on October 16,17,18 at Oakland University. come Cheer them on at either event.
