Prevention Team...
Juvenile Justice Liaison
Katherine Tabor, MA
Katherine serves as the
Juvenile Justice Liaison for the Waterford School District. In her
role, she acts as a link between Waterford Schools and the Oakland
County Circuit Court, working with students and families involved
in the juvenile justice system She also partners with the
Waterford Success Program, to improve attendance and student
engagement across the District. Katherine earned her Bachelor of
Arts from Syracuse University, and her Master of Arts in
International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American
University in Washington DC. She has worked primarily as a
designer and facilitator of conflict resolution and mediation
curricula in Israel, Washington DC, and throughout Oakland County.
Prevention Specialists
David Caponi, LLMSW
David received his
Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Michigan State
University and his Master of Social Work degree from the
University of Michigan. He is currently a licensed Social
Worker in the State of Michigan and has obtained his School
Social Work Certification. His previous experience includes
working with at-risk populations at a school-based health center
and at an adult outpatient substance abuse facility, providing
individual and group therapy.
Jill Hemming, LLMSW
Jill has worked for the Waterford School District
as a Case Manager within the SS/HS Counseling Connections Center,
and a part time School Social Worker. She has experience working
with diverse populations and families. In the past, Jill has
worked in foster care in Lansing, MI and as a School Social Worker
in Wayne, MI. She also enjoys coaching and incorporating adventure
education into her work. Jill received her Bachelor of Arts
degree in Social Work from Michigan State University and her
Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan.
Sharyanne Kollin, LMSW, ACSW
Sharyanne Kollin received her
Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland University with Magna Cum
Laude honors in 1979. She received her Master of Social Work
degree from Wayne State University in 1981. She has worked in the
Waterford School District since 1982. She was an elementary school
social worker for 28 years and has provided service to general and
special education students, individually and in groups. She has
also worked as a clinician in private practice at a local
counseling agency. She wrote the grant that provided the initial
funding for the Waterford School District SAFE (Student Assistance
and Family Education) program. She is a member of the Academy of
Certified Social Workers and a past president of Region F of the
Michigan Association of School Social Workers (previously known as
MSSWA.)
Breahn Post, LLMSW
Breahn received her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Criminal Justice at Western Michigan University and
her Master of Social Work and School Social Work certification
from Wayne State University. While obtaining her Master’s Degree
in Social Work, Breahn worked for a Criminal Defense Attorney
specializing in Juvenile Justice. She is currently a licensed
Social Worker in the State of Michigan and was previously a School
Social Worker for the Waterford School District. Breahn has
experience identifying and aiding students who are struggling
academically, socially, emotionally, and/or behaviorally. She
serves as an advocate, liaison, coordinator, case manager and
consultant for students, parents, school staff and community
agency personnel. Breahn is also a certified Trainer for
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and has worked closely with school
staff to teach effective intervention strategies when dealing with
a student in crisis.
School Safety Coordinators
Charles Biggs
Charles is a retired police officer
where he dedicated his last two years in school-based law
enforcement. He holds a degree in political science from Ferris
State University. Charles is a long-time resident of the
community where he lives and served for the Waterford Township
Police Department.
Nicolas Kerchoff
Nicholas is a Waterford Kettering graduate, who also received a
bachelor of science degree in sociology with a criminal justice
concentration from Central Michigan University. Nicholas is
retired from the Livonia Police Department, where he provided
D.A.R.E. education to elementary students, was an advisor of the
the Livonia Police Explorers for 10 years, and attended the 2010
National Explorer Competition in Georgia. His experience also
includes school security for the Redford Union Alternative
Education School. Nicholas is pursuing a master degree in police
administration from Madonna University.
Paul Osika
Paul is retired from the Waterford Township Police
Department, where he held the rank of Sergeant. He has extensive
experience in investigations and considers himself to be a
"people person". Paul received a bachelor of science degree in
criminal justice with minors in psychology and sociology from
Eastern Michigan University. He is a life-long resident of
Waterford Township.
Tiffany Patten, JD, MADR
Tiffany is a contractual mediator and has experience with
mediating special education, truancy, divorce, and civil court
matters. In the past, she has developed a peer mediation program
in a middle school setting and has taught at the high school
level. Tiffany has been trained in school violence prevention. She
has spent the majority of her career working with children.
Tiffany received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Purdue
University, a Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution from Wayne
State University, and a Juris Doctorate, from Wayne State
University Law School. Tiffany has professional experience in
social work, law, mediation, and conflict management.
