Waterford Veggie Village and Kettering Team
Nutrition students hosted a “Happy Earth Day” Party at the Waterford Senior Center for their Center
friends. Students shared “Going Green” plans and serve a “Green
Cuisine” luncheon at the intergenerational event. This event kicked off the celebration of the Veggie Village Garden and
encouraged our friends at the Senior Center to come to Village and
grow with our students as we plot our secret garden plans!
The Veggie Village Grow Stations were brought to life
at
Waterford Village. The Grow Stations included
include herbs, marigolds and tomatoes. Our Master Gardener
Volunteer, Kathy Wolak, Mrs. Sue Risko (Village PTA) and students
from the Kettering Team Nutrition group met with each class
to sow the seeds of the earth and the seeds of excitement! The
lunchroom, overseen by Mary Seeterlin, began a
“Compost Project” to teach students about decomposition, the food
chain, organic recycling, and other natural systems.
Waterford
Village Elementary Students enjoyed the Love Your Veggies Launch
Assembly, sponsored by
Hidden
Valley®. Take a look at the photos that captured the event!
