Principal's Welcome

Dear Grayson Families,

It is my pleasure to lead the Grayson community as your principal. I have been an educator for twelve years. I taught first, second, and third grade in Chicago Public Schools and then transitioned into the role of Assistant Principal for five years. As your Principal, it is my goal to ensure that Grayson Elementary is not only a place where our entire community feels welcome and safe, but also a place where our students receive the best education possible.

The staff at Grayson Elementary are committed to ensuring the success of every child, every day, by cultivating and nurturing a passion for learning. This is done through utilizing best practices in the classroom. Come into any of our classrooms and you will see an engaging interactive read aloud, guided reading groups, authentic writing opportunities, small group instruction, independent and buddy reading, hands on learning, and other means of engaging instruction.

In addition to top-notch instruction, you’ll also see the Grayson community exhibiting the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as we are a Franklin Covey Leader in Me School. We believe that every child has unique strengths and has the ability to be a leader. Through the Leader in Me Program we are teaching our students to become self-reliant, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, prioritize their time, regulate their emotions, be considerate of others, express and communicate their viewpoint effectively, resolve conflicts, be problem solvers, value differences, and live a balanced life. We believe that if we empower our students with these leadership attributes they will develop the skills and self-confidence they need to lead successful lives in an ever-changing world.
